Rabbit Hide Altar Cloth Odin Sleipnir Tjängvide Image Stone MADE TO ORDER
Altar cloths are used for rituals, rune casting, and as a centerpiece for your altar. It also can be used as a wrap to protect your ritual tools, and rune sets. This particular altar cloth is light brown rabbit fur, with the design printed with a hand cut linoleum block on the soft leather side in black or red ink, and measures approximately 13.5" by 16."
Additional Note on my process: I believe a clean edged hide is more beautiful than one with rough and tattered edges, straight from my supplier. That being so, I trim and clean up the hide's outer edges, brushing out any lingering particles. leaving the hide more beautiful and clean. This usually takes about a half hour, and is well worth the extra work!
Natural Edges vs Trimmed and Clean!
You can also opt for a more raw, wild look for the ritual cloth! By leaving much of the jagged edge unaltered, I can offer the ritual cloth for a more affordable cost to the buyer, since I don't put the extra work into the process of crafting your ritual cloth.
Your sacred space will be even more beautiful with this hand crafted altar cloth!
Rune Set Not Included.
About the Design.
The beautiful artwork printed on the alter cloth is inspired by the Tjängvide image stone dating to the Viking Age found in Gotland, Sweden.
The upper part of this picture stone is believed to depict Odin and his eight-legged horse Sleipnir about to enter the gate of Valhalla. The female figure in front of the eight-legged horse may be a Valkyrie holding the drinking horns offering to Odin, but this is only a guess. Picking a section of the picture stone, I chose to carve the figures of Odin, Sleipnir, and the Valkyrie into the linoleum block, using my carving tools. I hope you you'll love the finished design!
These ritual cloths are MADE TO ORDER, and take three to five days to process.
